HeBe Jewellery is now able to offer a recycled bespoke engagement and wedding ring service. We can melt down old gold to form a new ring to your design. Maybe you have been given some old gold jewellery that holds sentimental value or would just prefer that no new mining has to take place to create your ring. We can recycle your gold or source old gold to meet your requirements.
It's no secret that mining for gold has a terrible effect on the environment and gold mining is one of the dirtiest businesses in the world. The production of one gold ring generates a massive 20 tons of mine waste. HeBe Jewellery has signed up to the No dirty gold campaign and we work hard to ensure that the gold in our jewellery has not been produced at the expense of local communities, workers and the environment. By offering recycled gold as an option for your engagement ring or wedding band, we hope to do our bit for producing responsible jewellery.
Unfortunately using recycled gold doesn't work out any cheaper than using new gold and you should also be aware that you always seem to end up with less metal when melting it down. If for ethical reasons you decide recycled gold is the option for you, we can source old gold to combine with any existing gold you might have to create your ring.
Please contact one of our designers to discuss a recycled bespoke ring or visit our handmade and bespoke jewellery page for more details. |

The material jade is in actual fact, made up of two different types of stone.
Jade is primarily composed of nephrite, a hard non-crystalline mineral that consists of silicates of calcium and magnesium. The properties of iron and manganese provide most of the color variations.
Jade is one of the strongest materials on Earth—it is even stronger than steel. This was one reason for its widespread use in early civilisations in Europe, Far-East and Meso-America. Besides its toughness, the smoothness of the stone and the broad range of colors made it very attractive to early artists and artisans.
On the sites of Hongshan and Hemudu cultures in China, archaeologists have found jade objects which date back to the early Neolithic period (around 7,000years ago).

A traditional style Chess Set made from green jade and white marble
The basic colors of jade are white, and a colorless opaqueness. Inclusions of different metals give it the beautiful colours: chromium makes it emerald green ("Imperial Jade"), iron makes it brown and green, while manganese creates violet hues.
The Chinese associate jade with a host of cultural connotations. Jade is revered. “Gold is valuable,” says a Chinese proverb. “But Jade is invaluable.”
Jade in Chinese is pronounced “yu” and it stands for beauty, purity and good virtue. |

Nomination and HeBe Jewellery are supporting Breast Cancer Research in October by donating £1 for every Nomination breast cancer charm you buy in the month of October. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and much needed funds are required to continue research into developing new treatments for this devastating illness. Breast cancer is now the most common cancer in the UK with 10,000 new cases diagnosed each year. The five year survival rate for British women with breast cancer is improving and is currently around 80%. We'd like to see this figure go to 100% and HeBe Jewellery is committed to helping achieve this by supporting Nomination Jewellery and the pink ribbon links campaign.
At the end of October, all funds generated by the campaign will be donated by Nomination to Breast Cancer Care. If you have a bracelet or you know someone with a Nomination charm bracelet, please support the pink ribbon links campaign and purchase a breast cancer charm in enamel or cubic zirconia from our online store.
Thankyou for your support. |

Recently, some extremely rare purple diamonds were discovered at the
Ekomiak V property in James Bay, Quebec, Canada. A batch of 649
diamonds were harvested in the region, nine of which were purple. The
diamonds were recovered from 18 surface rock samples, and are estimated
to be about 2.7 billion years old.

Purple Diamond, from Aurora Gems
Purple diamonds, like pink diamonds, are considered to be one of the
rarer, fancier colors of diamonds (and therefore one of the most
expensive). They are also one of the most desirable of diamond colors.
News of the discovery of the purple diamonds was naturally
very well received.
The largest diamond was a colourless fragment, measuring 1.06mm by
0.98 mm by 0.56 mm. All of the purple diamond samples have been
associated with samples having high diamond counts.
The new diamond discovery is the largest to date in Quebec. The
diamond-bearing Ekomiak Conglomerate extends for four kilometres and up
to 500 metres in width. Individual outcrops measure 500 metres by 400
metres in size.
Purple diamonds are created when boron fuses into the crystal
structure of the diamond. Over the years, other fancy colored diamonds
(apart from purpled hued ones) have been discovered in various parts of
the world -- including yellow diamonds, green diamonds, pink diamonds,
black diamonds and brown diamonds.

Pallavi Dudeja Foley is one of India's leading jewellery designers.
She has a precise and sophisticated point of view in jewellery design,
whereby diamonds and pearls perfectly match with karats of gold.
Pallavi Dudeja Foley designs collections for her own jewellery brand, Pallavi Foley. She has also won many awards by creating jewellery for prestigious projects.
She won the Bright Sparks Diamond Jewelry Design Competition, by DE
BEERS in 2000 while she was a student at NIFT [The National Institute
of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in New Delhi, India].
Another project was the Gold Virtuosi 2002. Pallavi Foley was
selected amongst the 100 finalists internationally, for designing an
ensemble inspired by animal fur. This piece was handcrafted and
captured the beauty of animal fur in gold, with due respect towards
saving the wild life on our earth. Made from 22k gold "fur", the design
included a neckpiece, a stole, anklets and ear studs, weighing
approximately 1.5 kg. It took almost 2 months to manufacture.
The Odyssey
This jewellery piece designed by Pallavi Foley (modeling her jewelry)
was amongst 11 award-winning entries short listed as a result of the
national competition [Diamonds 2004, Vivaha Collection].
"The Odyssey", is made of 4908 diamonds. It has a combination of a
variety of diamond cuts, shapes and colors. It also uses black
diamonds, enhancing the contrast between the two sides of the neckwear.
The Odyssey is a description about the evolution of a person, through
ups and downs in life, finally emerging beautifully -- just like the
journey of a diamond. |
