HeBe Jewelleryspecialises in a stunning collection of gold and platinum diamond rings thatfeature both classic and contemporary designs. If you’re looking to benchmarkyour requirements, then this is the place.
Here’s what you need to know in relation to carat, clarity, colour andcut.
Carat
This is the weight measurement. Larger diamonds are rare and thereforeexpensive so the price increases in relation to the weight.
Clarity
Natural flaws occur as the diamond is being formed and the size, numberand visibility of such flaws will determine clarity. One thing to distinguishis whether flaws have been made during the cutting process or during naturalprocess. Characteristics such as scratches, air bubbles, cuts and other mineraldeposits occur during its natural formation, however, the fewer the flaws, themore brilliant the diamond.
Colour
The mineral composition of the stone serves to dictate the colour in adiamond. Most valuable are those of the colourless variety due to the fact theyallow greater light, making them the most brilliant. When observing its colour, examine the stone through the side of the pavilion (bottom of the stone) withthe diamond upside down in a white paper grading trough. From blue and red togreen and yellow, the depth of colour will make the diamond both rare andvaluable.
Cut
The cut says it all and the brilliance of the diamond is determined byit. The face of the diamond is known as its table and light will enter throughthis area and travel to its centre where it will refract off the sides and thenback through the face. In contrast, a poorly cut diamond will show lessbrilliance as the light is lost through the sides and base of the diamond.

As valentines day approaches, here's a poem by Robert Burns entitled Red, Red Rose to get you in the mood for love.
O my Luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June.
O my Luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly played in tune.
As fair art though, my bonnie lass,
So deep in love am I,
And I will luve thee still, my Dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.
Till a' the seas gang dry, my Dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun,
And I will love thee still, my Dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only Luve!
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile!

Trading Standards recently seized the entire UK stock of Candy jewellery from the UK supplier of Zsiska Jewellery.
Following a review of the Consumer Protection Act of 1987 / Food
Imitation Regulation of 1989, Trading Standards have
confiscated the entire range of Zsiska
Candy jewellery from the UK supplier thus preventing its continued sale in the UK. Trading Standards believe there maybe a risk
to consumers if they mistakenly try to consume the product.
Zsiska Candy Jewellery has been sold
for many years without any problems. It continues to be sold across the world and there
are no recorded incidents of any person actually eating any piece of Zsiska Candy
jewellery by mistake.
In a statement to the press,
Laura Bentley owner of popular online jewellery retailer HeBe Jewellery
said,
"It's just another example
of the Governments vision of a nanny state. Zsiska Candy
jewellery is one of our best selling ranges and we have had to tell
customers they can no longer purchase it because it might be
mistaken for food and eaten. How ridiculous."
An example piece of jewellery from the Zsiska Candy range. Let's hope they don't decide to ban sweets next incase anbody tries to wear them as jewellery.
Do you think they are right to stop the sale of the Zsiska Signature Candy collection? Let us know.
HeBe Jewellery is now able to offer a recycled bespoke engagement and wedding ring service. We can melt down old gold to form a new ring to your design. Maybe you have been given some old gold jewellery that holds sentimental value or would just prefer that no new mining has to take place to create your ring. We can recycle your gold or source old gold to meet your requirements.
It's no secret that mining for gold has a terrible effect on the environment and gold mining is one of the dirtiest businesses in the world. The production of one gold ring generates a massive 20 tons of mine waste. HeBe Jewellery has signed up to the No dirty gold campaign and we work hard to ensure that the gold in our jewellery has not been produced at the expense of local communities, workers and the environment. By offering recycled gold as an option for your engagement ring or wedding band, we hope to do our bit for producing responsible jewellery.
Unfortunately using recycled gold doesn't work out any cheaper than using new gold and you should also be aware that you always seem to end up with less metal when melting it down. If for ethical reasons you decide recycled gold is the option for you, we can source old gold to combine with any existing gold you might have to create your ring.
Please contact one of our designers to discuss a recycled bespoke ring or visit our handmade and bespoke jewellery page for more details.

The material jade is in actual fact, made up of two different types of stone.
Jade is primarily composed of nephrite, a hard non-crystalline mineral that consists of silicates of calcium and magnesium. The properties of iron and manganese provide most of the color variations.
Jade is one of the strongest materials on Earth—it is even stronger than steel. This was one reason for its widespread use in early civilisations in Europe, Far-East and Meso-America. Besides its toughness, the smoothness of the stone and the broad range of colors made it very attractive to early artists and artisans.
On the sites of Hongshan and Hemudu cultures in China, archaeologists have found jade objects which date back to the early Neolithic period (around 7,000years ago).

The basic colors of jade are white, and a colorless opaqueness. Inclusions of different metals give it the beautiful colours: chromium makes it emerald green ("Imperial Jade"), iron makes it brown and green, while manganese creates violet hues.
The Chinese associate jade with a host of cultural connotations. Jade is revered. “Gold is valuable,” says a Chinese proverb. “But Jade is invaluable.”
Jade in Chinese is pronounced “yu” and it stands for beauty, purity and good virtue.
