A spokesperson at Jacob & Co confirmed the company designed the $2.5 million (£1.25million) ring actor/rapper Nick Cannon gave to his new wife, Mariah Carey.

According to In Touch magazine, the 17-carat platinum and pink diamond engagement ring features 58 intense pink diamonds and two half-moon diamonds on each side. The emerald-cut fancy light pink centre stone alone is said to be 10 carats. It measures just a little smaller than a dime.

The couple wed during a small, "very impulsive" wedding ceremony in the Bahamas in May 08. Cannon, at 27, is 11 years younger than the pop diva.

After a whirlwind romance, the rapper (who was her boyfriend for one month) proposed to the singer with the custom made pink diamond ring. Mariah Carey was also seen showing off the bling at The Waverly Inn, a trendy New York City eatery.

"We got the pinkest stone we could find, surrounded by other diamonds," Nick was quoted as saying.

Mariah Carey herself added, "It's so clear, you can see my finger through it.”
