Tips on Not Over Accessorising
Written by Jess Scott
While accessories like chunky necklaces can be a fun, flamboyant look, it’s easy sometimes to end up with accessory overkill (with dangly earrings, supersize bauble rings, and clunky bracelets as part of your collection).

The key to coordinating is to remember this: Keep it simple.

Fergie looking chic on the left, and a tad over-accessorised on the right...

It doesn’t matter whether it's a branded name or not. Coordinating still requires some time, care, and thought.

For instance, you might want to pair a bold necklace with other jewellery. Accessories that won’t compete with such a necklace include:

  1. simple stud earrings (in a stone that suits the stones or beads in your necklace)
  2. small to medium-sized gold or silver hoops
  3. a simple ring
  4. a simple but complementary chain bracelet.
Another pointer is not to place items too close to each other on the body. Instead of big earrings AND a huge necklace, big earrings and a cocktail ring might work a lot better.

Alternatively, you could decide to skip the other jewellery pieces altogether. This way, the focus remains on your statement-making necklace.
